You know those times when you have a partner, and you’re really ready to make things public and let everyone know how much you enjoy each other? Uber and Facebook are doing that right about now with their partnership as they release a new feature that will make it even easier to get an Uber from inside of Facebook, with a message. You can sign in to the service or even sign up for it in Messenger, Facebook’s chat app, by sending a message to Uber on there. The chat bot will update you as to when your driver is on the way. Since Messenger is already linked to your Uber account, there’s no payment information you have to put in or anything. Just hop in your ride and get on the road.
It seems like Facebook might want to make Messenger the go to app for communication, having even tested it as a customer service tool for some retailers earlier this year. And that’s not the only recent addition. They also added facial recognition, which is the same tool that they have implemented that takes a good guess at who is in your Facebook pictures. Plus, now you can change the color of text in messages. However, like all Facebook changes, they will be rolled out slowly over it’s one billion person user base.
