Did you have to rush off to find your little dearest the finest shopkin your money could buy? Well, just be glad you didn’t have to buy this one to quell your kids’ tantrums. If you can believe it, someone paid $21,500 for the Gemma Stone Shopkin, which is a rare one. Shopkins are cute little toys that resemble everyday objects from food to pencils, but they have cute looks with big eyes, arms and legs. Gemma Stone is so rare because she was only created to appear in Shopkins Youtube videos, not to be sold in stores. This one was created from handblown glass and then auctioned off to benefit a charity, the Toy Industry Foundation, which delivers toys to underserved kids.
Since launching in 2014 Shopkins have sold more than 115 million of the toys which usually cost a mere $2.99, rather than $21,500. There are about 420 characters in the Shopkins universe so far, a few of which might go for a few thousand dollars on eBay, but so far nothing has come close to the Gemma Stone sale.
