The world is pretty good right now. Of course there are always problems and poverty, but people can live longer than ever, have decent food in many areas of the world, and get access to amazing medical care, in some countries for free, and in others if you’ve got the cash. However, new technology has brought a new type of safety into our minds: web safety. Who is on the web’s most wanted list and why?
First of all, the terrorist group ISIS is definitely on this list. They use social media to recruit westerners (and easterners), and try to make joining their cause look attractive through posting daily calls to join, as casually as you like to post your very best selfies.
However, all the people on this list aren’t quite as nefarious. Cody Wilson is a techie and an anarchist who has created blueprints for a functioning firearm that you can print at home. With firearm killings dominating the headlines in 2015, this seems like a controversial idea. In 2015 he went even further by shipping a milling machine that allows you to create your very own AR-15 assault rifle right at home. Yikes!
Impact Team is the hacking group behind the Ashley Madison hack which was a judgemental move against those who want to cheat on their spouses. The hackers, (who were perhaps jilted lovers themselves?) released a 9.7 GB file with the personal information of 32 million members of the site including names, e-mail addresses and sexual preferences.
Those are just a few of the web’s enemies from 2015…what will happen this year?
