It’s very important for any company to have it’s website in order, so imagine everyone’s confusion that Tesla, the makers of the well known all electric cars, didn’t even have it’s own name as it’s website. Tesla.com was owned by someone else, a Silicon Valley engineer who had bought it about 24 years ago, for a long time. The originally owner is allegedly someone who bought the domain back in the early days of the net because they were a huge fan of Nikola Tesla, for whom the company is named. They finally acquired the domain, which now redirects to TeslaMotors.com, which is the domain they have been using for the last bit of time, since they didn’t have access to the former site mentioned. No one knows how the transfer occurred, but some speculate it was completely voluntary, while others assume there must have been an exchange of money in order to make the acquisition happen.
Some believe that the acquisition could be a sign that Tesla is wanting to create an umbrella website for all of its services and products which include not only cars but now special batteries as well. Other industry experts believe that Tesla, which is formally known as Tesla Motors might change their name officially to just Tesla, which they couldn’t do before due to the domain name problem.
