When Snapchat was created, many thought it was a sort of secure messaging service. It seemed simple enough, send a message, it self destructs after the recipient views it, going away forever into the ether. However, this proved to be false. In 2013 it was revealed by Forbes that one could access the images left on Snapchat servers, which most users thought had been deleted. In addition , in 2013, Snapchat had a huge leak of user data which proved that they had deceived their users about the amount and types of data they had collected. It only make sense with a record like that, that they would want to cover their own backsides when updating their privacy terms, but at what cost?
