Do you market products on Pinterest? Well, it just got a bit easier. Last week, the social network which is based on saving boards of things you find visually interesting launched a new feature that lets you track Pins, or items people post, that are buyable. Users will now be able to track the price, so that if the price changes, they will know and can snatch up the goods they want.
How it works is pretty straightforward. Save a buyable pin, and when and if the price drops, Pinterest will send you an e-mail that will let you buy the item in the Pinterest app. Pinterest estimates that about 1 million shoppable pins drop in price every day, so, that could mean a lot more sales for those using Pinterest as a marketing tool for products.
The buyable pins feature was only released in July, and since then major retailers including Bloomingdale’s, DVF and others have hopped on board. In one study, 87% of Pinterest users said that they made a purchase because they saw it on Pinterest, so it really makes sense that they would try to capitalize on how much Pinterest has always been a shopping platform.
How will you use buyable pins?
