Apple TV has come out with a cool new development that allows it to play 360 degree videos. The new feature comes from Disney funded virtual reality service Littlstar has created an app for the device. While the videos aren’t technically virtual reality, they do give the feeling of being in an immersive environment. The app is free so far, and you can spin around the environments, which are provided by the Disney Channel, Discovery Channel, National Geographic and others. There’s not a whole lot here yet, but it is definitely worth looking at!
They’re not the only ones working up to VR. Google also added 360 degree video to Youtube recently, and artists like Bjork have already made some fantastic videos. Youtube has also recently announced that ads can also be 360 degrees, and some creative ones have come out. Youtube’s 360 degree videos are also compatible with the Google Cardboard VR headset. You can view these 360 degree ads on the Chrome browser or on the Youtube app in either iOS or Android devices.
