Morning shows are not a new idea. There were morning shows on the radio before there was television, and there are still morning shows on TV. Even on demand video platforms have dabbled in the idea of morning shows, with shows that recap the previous nights TV watching options. Most morning shows tell people the weather and current events as they are getting ready for work. They have light content that is entertaining and helps people feel happy about the day ahead. With more and more people spending time on social media sites, it would make sense for those sites to try to provide users with some type of “morning show” like experience. This is now possible with the rise of live video on social media sites.
So, it’s not surprising that Facebook announced that they are coming out with a live morning show that will air 3-5 days per week that will appear on branded pages on Facebook and can also appear in Facebook Messenger. The show is going to be shaped by the brands who choose to get involved with it, which means there could a big opportunity for your brand in there.
The show will be produced by London based firm DigitasLBi. Once the show airs live on a page, it will be shown as a video on the page once the broadcast is over. The show will reportedly contain workout tips, daily weather, a news section that is filmed in front of a live audience in New York City as well as recipes. Keenan Pridmore, head of Facebook’s Creative Shop Studio, said that this is for people who could use some exciting content to get them started in the morning, perhaps those who don’t have cable TV but miss those fun morning shows!
