It seems strange that some of the biggest and most popular companies don’t really put that much effort or money into their marketing games, but it makes sense when you really think about. Twitter doesn’t need to put much into advertising, because the platform practicall advertises itself with content that can be shared and talked about all over the web. Apple computers haven’t needed to put much into marketing because they were one of the original computer makers to sell to consumers, and their products speak for themselves. However, now it looks like Apple is getting ready to step up their marketing because they have hired a slew of marketing executives. Apple has its own advertising agency known as BWA/Media Arts Lab, and that is the division to which these new execs have been hired.
First up, they brought on Rebecca Stambanis as Chief Strategy Officer. She is an experienced executive who has worked at numerous agencies on big brands like Nike. It is reported that she will be working on long term strategies for the business. Next, Jorge Calleja has been hired as an Executive Creative Director, and has previously directed campaigns with agencies for huge brands like Tic Tac and Mondelez. Finally Kaitlyn Wilkins joins the team as an Executive Director of Integration. Previously she was the global director of social media and then of brand and product marketing for Burberry, so she has experience with a large global brand that people love.
It will be interesting to see what these creative minds come up with for Apple’s dedicated marketing agency!
