Amazon Web Services was really the first cloud platform and businesses both large and small have based their entire businesses off of it. Netflix and Expedia are 2 of the corporate giants based off Amazon’s cloud, and there are countless others. AWS’ numbers are off the charts for 2015, and they are only expected to go even higher in the future. There was a 65% growth in revenue in the first part of 2015, and right now, AWS income accounts for 7% of Amazon’s total revenue and 37% of profits, which is a big deal, considering all that Amazon offers.
Amazon executives believe that one day, AWS may be the biggest Amazon product, and the Amazon team does not foresee it being spun off as it’s own company one day, since many Amazon products and services such as the network for Amazon Kindles and Amazon Prime Video. It will also be important in the future as Amazon continues to develop it’s AI technology Alexa, as well as developing a drone delivery network.
In addition to basic cloud services, AWS also offers e-mail, networking events and conferences for industry professionals and offers robust analytics for its users.
